What is Whole30?
Founded by Melissa Hartwig and Dallas Hartwig in April 2009, the Whole30® is designed to change your life in 30-days. Think of it as a short-term nutrition reset, designed to help you put an end to unhealthy cravings and habits, restore a healthy metabolism, heal your digestive tract, and balance your immune system.
Certain food groups (like sugar, grains, dairy and legumes) could be having a negative impact on your health and fitness without you even realizing it. Are your energy levels inconsistent or non-existent? Do you have aches and pains that can’t be explained by over-use or injury? Are you having a hard time losing weight no matter how hard you try? Do you have some sort of condition (like skin issues, digestive ailments, seasonal allergies or fertility issues) that medication hasn’t helped? These symptoms may be directly related to the foods you eat—even the “healthy” stuff.
So how do you know if, and how, these foods are affecting you? Strip them from your diet completely. Cut out all the psychologically unhealthy, hormone-unbalancing, gut-disrupting, inflammatory food groups for a full 30-days. Let your body heal and recover from whatever effects those foods may be causing. Push the “reset” button with your metabolism, systemic inflammation, and the downstream effects of the food choices you’ve been making. Learn once and for all how the foods you’ve been eating are actually affecting your day to day life, and your long-term health.
Who is facilitating Taos’ Whole30?
Andrea and Angelisa have crafted a unique weekend to immerse yourself into the Whole30 lifestyle while intimately experiencing the beauty, nature and culture of Taos, New Mexico.
After meeting the summer of 2017, Angelisa hosted Andrea and her daughter on their first stand-up paddle boarding and hiking tour within the scenic Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument and it sparked a friendship and partnership to marry the things they love: nutrition and playing in the outdoors!
It thus seemed natural for them to cultivate a collaborative retreat within the artisan town of Taos. Angelisa’s travel company, Heritage Inspirations, is a partner with El Monte Sagrado Resort an exquisite adobe resort nestled just off Kit Carson less than half a mile away from the town plaza.
Together, they invite you to treat yourself to an inspirational luxurious weekend, enjoying the great outdoors. With Andrea’s Whole30 expertise and with Angelisa’s connection to El Monte Sagrado Resort and Taos tourism, they have put together this Whole30 inspired weekend of workshops, dining experiences, and activities.
Andrea Overturf, a local Taosena who now lives in Dallas, has planned a two-part Whole30 Workshop for those who are already Whole30 alumni and those who are excited to learn more about this remarkable program.
- Part One Basics, guidelines, and intention of the program, followed by a Q+A session.
- Part Two will include practical tips, hacks, and recipes, including a Sips and Dips demo. This demo shows you how to create dressings/dips to add major flavor to your Whole30 meals. In addition, you will also enjoy fruit infused sparkling water “mocktails” – all Whole30 friendly, of course!
Each workshops will include giveaway packages to be raffled off! You will also take home an exclusive Whole30 Swag Bag filled with products, coupons, and more from Whole30 Approved brands!
Plus, join Angelisa on the trail within one of the most scenic geological rift zones with a hike above North America’s third longest river, the Rio Grande. You will be amazed at the diversity of the high desert ecosystem, on our 2.4-mile moderate hike to an expansive overlook. You will also be able to experience Heritage Inspirations Taos Artisan Walking Tour to learn more about the ethereal light and color that attracted so many artisans to this region.
At the end of this weekend, you’ll not only walk away feeling like you’ve experienced Taos with a true insider point of view, but you’ll also carry the tools you need to launch your food freedom journey.
