The Jemez Mountains are located in the Santa Fe National Forest, and are known to be one of the most scenic areas in New Mexico. This is the perfect destination to unplug and reconnect with nature and your inner self. For 4,500 years people have been living in these valleys, along the Jemez River and in ancient cliff dwellings. Today the Village of Jemez Springs is a weekend getaway for New Mexicans and nearby is Jemez Pueblo, the only Towa speaking Pueblo in New Mexico. Climbing up in elevation from the pinon scrubbed foothills into the mountains, you will be delighted by the slotted canyons shadowed by towering ponderosa pine trees and cascading waterfalls. You will explore and discover through valleys and peaks that were formed by an ancient volcanic eruption with elevations of 11,253 feet.
